Weekend Activities

Thank you for your interest in Granite Hill and for perusing our list of themed weekends. We strive to offer a wonderful camping experience as well as a plethora of activities of all kinds for both the young and young at heart.   Reservations are taken one year in advance on a rolling basis.  Current campers have the first opportunity to renew their same site each weekend if done by close of business on Saturday evening.   We are currently taking reservations for the following dates and events in 2022.  Did you miss getting a sewer site last year? or your favorite tent site?  Then secure your favorite site or sites now for these fun-filled camping weekends! Groups are highly encouraged to call early to reserve sites together! Keep in mind that holidays and special event weekends like Memorial Weekend and Halloween Weekends usually sell out!  So, call soon!   Activities are held rain or shine (unless there is a safety concern) and subject to change without notice.  Thank you again for visiting our website.  We hope you find the perfect weekend for you and yours!





APRIL 1-3, 2022

Springtime is officially here and that means it’s time to kick the cabin fever, dust off your camper ,and make your way to Granite Hill. Join in the fun and help us clean up the winter debris from around the campground and golf course on Saturday from 9AM-Noon and in appreciation we’ll treat you to a complimentary lunch at the Red Shed Café (for all helpers) and a free night later in the season! (limit one per family. Base rate max value of $45)  Call soon and join us in kicking off our 50th Anniversary season and enjoy a lovely quiet weekend of camping. Relax by a bonfire in the cool spring weather and watch  the world bloom. Adventure Golf is free all weekend while we clean up and open up the course!


APRIL 8-10, 2022

All are welcome, but heroes are revered with our two-night camping special! This weekend will be dedicated to thanking our heroes with a buy-one-night-get-one-free BOGO, applied only to reservations made in advance! Discount applies to the base rate of $45 and does not include taxes, hookups, extra guests, and other charges.  When you arrive be  sure to show us your military, EMS, fire company, police badge or medical staff badge to verify your discount.  The Bull Roast Dinner that was scheduled for this weekend has been canceled due to lack of participation.  If you’re disappointed about that then please join us next weekend for Easter Dinner! And, make your reservations today!



APRIL 15-17, 2022

Is your busy schedule starting to make you feel like a basket case? Don’t lose a hare of sleep—retreat to Granite Hill for a weekend where the only thing you’ll be concerned with is making time to come back soon! Peter Cottontail will be hopping in and out throughout the course of the weekend, so keep your eyes peeled for him as you’re making your Easter bonnet for the parade and contest, playing Easter games, winning chocolate from candy bar bingo, and getting your boogie on at the dance with Dual FX DJ’s after a delicious ham dinner.  Make the whole family happy with activities for all ages, and form eggstra special memories for the years to come! Dinner reservations are required to participate in the Easter dinner. The deadline to reserve a seat at the table is Wednesday, April 13th.  We’ll serve up delicious, cooked to perfection ham and  campers contribute their favorite camping side dish and dessert! There is no charge to participate in the Easter dinner but reservations are required and seats are limited.  The deadline to make dinner reservations is Friday, April 8th. 



“Invest in Our Planet” ~ EARTH DAY WEEKEND

APRIL 22-24, 2022

This year’s Earth Day theme, “Invest in our Planet,” focusing on the effect of climate change on the planet, calls for more climate change-conscious decisions by political leaders to reduce the effects of global warming, as well as individual cleanups to help the local environment. This is a perfect reminder that we all need to take care of our beautiful land and country.  Now is your chance to be a part of Granite Hill history and help care for the land on which you are camping by sponsoring and naming a new tree to be planted here at the park.  By participating in this event you and yours for generations to come can return to Granite Hill to visit your family tree!  Boyer Nurseries & Orchards, Inc. a local nursery will be supplying the trees.  Campers are invited to sponsor a Red Maple, Sugar Maple, Pin Oak, Red Bud and possibly some other varieties of trees for $75-$90.  The trees will range in size from 4′-6′ and will be planted at a later date.  Donors and trees will be listed on our campground map and tree markers will be placed for your family to visit year after year! Invest in our planet while enjoying a fun-filled weekend of camping.  Other events include ghost stories, crafts, scavenger hunt and a  horseshoe tournament! Enjoy a quiet Saturday evening making s’more memories ‘round the campfire.

Show off your sgills and flex your fishing mussels this weekend at our 50th Annual Trout Derby! Our trout pond will be fully stocked and ready for you to cast your rod! Men, women, and children are invited to compete for prizes by catching the longest fish within their categories. Whether you catch the prize trout or not, everyone wins with activities all weekend, including a family friendly classic comedy show where the Trout Derby grand prize winner will be announced and receive a FREE WEEKEND!! MAY 6-8, 2022

A mother’s work is difficult and ever-continuing; often requiring more selflessness and patience than one has to offer. Whether the job is inherited naturally or taken up over time, Granite Hill is here to offer the retreat from daily life that all mothers oh-so-desperately need to recharge their batteries. Call today to thank your mothers, grandmothers, aunts, or any hard working woman in your life with a restful and rejuvenating weekend. The weekend’s itinerary will begin with happy hour at the Red Shed Cafe on Friday from 6-7 where moms will enjoy a complimentary glass of wine and have the opportunity to meet other amazing women followed by a family friendly ghost tour. It will include a pottery class taught by local artist Cathleen Lerew from Under the Horizon Pottery Studio, where participants can enjoy an interactive demonstration while learning about throwing on the potter’s wheel, discussing firing and finishing, and clean and finish a freshly thrown wet bowl. This class is open to anyone at any age! Granite Hill is sponsoring this event and sharing the cost with participants.  The fee is $20 per person for the first 30 registrants, after that the fee is $40/person, so do not delay registering the women in your life for this class and give her the opportunity to tap into her creative side. Space is limited! Our activities directors will pump up the jam and keep the kids entertained on Saturday afternoon so moms can maximize their relaxation! Saturday night relax by the campfire and make s’more memories with your wonderful family.  Upon awakening Sunday morning, head over to the Red Shed Café for a complimentary Mother’s Day pancake breakfast! It’s  time to get your glow on! When you’ve been working hard and need a break, sometimes it’s best to just lei down or better yet don your parot-fan-ilia, tie-dye shirts, grass skirts, and coconut bras, and treat yourself by retreating to Granite Hill for our Tropical Paradise Weekend, where Margaritaville meets Gettysburg’s pastoral splendor.  Enjoy a delicious Pig Roast Potluck and Margaritaville dance party, as well as the usual Granite Hill camping fun!  This weekend, you can participate in a horseshoe tournament, make arts and crafts, tie-dye shirts, wow us with your hula hooping skills, sing, dance and roast s’mores, all in one weekend! What does the perfect summer weekend look like? We’ll put an image in your head at Granite Hill with a weekend brimming with arts and crafts, pool games, tie-dying, and a watermelon-eating contest! Then join your fellow campers and feast on a delectable BBQ chicken dinner.  Watch the sun drop to the horizon from a paddle boat or kayak on Lake Lily, enjoy the late afternoon breeze while playing a couple rounds of mini golf, and cap off the evening dancing under the stars to the classic rock hits of the 60’s and 70’s by the Smooth Opinion Band. Is the summer heat getting to you?  Then take yourself away for a refreshing weekend of camping, a dip in our pool and a wave of family fun.  We’ll cool things down for you and your friendly camping pups with free snow cones for the humans and pup cups for your furry companions.   Friendly mutts are invited to stroll along in a dog parade hosted by none other than our “Frozen” friends, Ana & Elsa! The dogs presenting the princesses with the most amazing tricks and tributes win a prize!  Of course there will be plenty of regularly scheduled events to entertain the family all weekend too. With arts and crafts, hayrides, a horseshoe tournament, hula-hoop contest and tie-dying there’s always something for everyone at Granite Hill!


August 12-14, 2022

Sink your claws into a delicious feast here at the campground with our annual Maryland Crab and Adams County Corn Feast! In addition to all the classic Granite Hill fun— roasting s’mores over ghost stories, sunbathing by the pool, going for a hayride jaunt, participating in game tournaments, making arts and crafts, and so on— Saturday night, we will be providing just-caught Maryland Blue Crabs (1’s and 2’s) and fresh, crisp corn on the cob from Adams County! Campers participating in the feast will have the option to dine in or scuttle back to their campsites for a more private meal. Each dozen of crabs will be priced at market prices and includes 6 ears of corn. After treating yourself to a delicious meal, rave on as evening falls to tunes spun by our DJs outside the Sterling Pavilion (weather permitting)! September 9-11, 2022

This weekend will be the 5th Anniversary or Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League event held at Granite Hill. Reserve a spot to attend these NICA-sanctioned races which provide student athletes an environment to bring to fruition their competitive aspirations! We guarantee every participating student athlete will be given a fast and fun atmosphere with NICA-refined class-leading professional race promotion, timing, course preparation, and risk management delivered by our highly experienced event promoters.  For more information about PICL, visit http://www.pamtb.org/. September 16-18, 2022

In June of 1997, J.K. Rowling first released Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the premier of the series. No one had ever before read such wonderful, outlandish words. Readers all over the world became absorbed in the pages, immersed in the wizarding world. Children began to wait outside by their mailboxes come the arrival of their 11th birthdays, hoping to find a letter admitting them to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry engraved with their name. Join us at Granite Hill for our fourth annual Witches and Wizards weekend, and discover as your daydreams become tangible all around you! Get sorted into your Hogwarts House, stroll down Diagon Alley, attend magical lessons, hunt for horcruxes, dance at the Hogwarts Yule Ball and much, much more, all with your favorite characters! Take your place among your Hogwarts peers of all ages and make a reservation today!  

The Triwizard Tournament events include capturing an egg from a dragon, saving a treasure from the bottom of a lake, and finding a path through a maze to capture the trophy first!  After the tournament everyone is invited to feast at the Pot-Luck.  We’ll supply hot dogs, drinks, and paper products, you bring a side dish and dessert to share! 

This outdoor event is free to campers and not open to the general public.

REIGISTRATION and WAIVER ARE REQUIRED IN ADVANCE TO PARTICIPATE.  Walkups can only be accepted as supplies last.



September 23-25, 2022

This weekend, the cozy town of Fairfield, PA will host Pippinfest, a community yard sale featuring food, entertainment, crafts, and lots of bustling activity! Located just 3 miles west of Granite Hill, about 6 minutes on Route 116, you can spend the weekend finding unique antiques and one-of-a-kind goodies at the various sales that line the quaint little town of Fairfield! Or if you prefer, hang with us at Granite Hill,  watch the sun drop to the horizon from a paddle boat or kayak on Lake Lily, enjoy the late afternoon breeze while playing a couple rounds of mini golf . End your relaxing day dancing under the stars to the classic rock  tunes of the 60’s and 70’s covered by the one and only Smooth Opinion Band!

The National Apple Harvest Festival lies in the orchard-covered mountains surrounding the historic town of Gettysburg, PA. On the twenty minute drive from our campground, you will be submersed in robust pastoral scenes until you reach the town of Arendtsville. There you will find an old-time festival of apple products, live country music, hundreds of arts and crafts vendors, antique autos, steam engines, orchard tours, and an abundance of food! Gettysburg has many marks of a fangtastic Halloween vacation location—cool autumn weather, cozy cafes in which to get your pumpkin spice lattes, and frequent ghost sightings! Consequently, Halloween is so popular at Granite Hill that we consecutively host three Halloween weekends in a row during the month of October! Spend some spooky time with the ones you love going on a FREE ghost walk around the campground, roasting s’mores, trick or treating, and decorating pumpkins! Explore our bloodcurdling Haunted Civil War Barn (if you dare), or sashay down the streets of our campground in our costume parade! Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Granite Hill! We are pleased to offer limited camping to guests for the holiday on Breezy Hill, Safari Area, Tenting Grove, Stoney Point, and our USA Tent Sites. The west bathhouse will remain open weather permitting, and the main camp section will be closed at this time. While the office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, we’ll give you a reason to be thankful when it opens up on Friday—all gift items will be 30% off on Black Friday! A welcome packet will be left at the night registration box for anyone arriving after hours! Don’t turk us for Granite, call to make your reservations today!

Camping Facilities are Closed December through March: However, if you are passing through Gettysburg and need a place to stay, give us a call and we will try to accommodate!

Winter Office Hours: Closed December. Open January through March: Monday through Friday 9-4, Closed on Saturdays & Sundays.  If our office is closed, please submit an online reservation request and we will call to confirm your reservation when the office reopens. Please keep in mind that if you submit a reservation request over the weekend, your reservation will be confirmed on the next business day.

Is your SCOUT TROOP interested in a WINTER CAMP out?  Then give us a call!  Winter camping is a big hit for scouts!  Set your tents up on Breezy Hill or the MG Line and use the pavilion behind the office for cooking and meals!  Bathrooms are conveniently located by the office. Reservations required.
