Weekend Activities

Thank you for your interest in Granite Hill and for perusing our list of themed weekends. We strive to offer a wonderful camping experience as well as a plethora of activities of all kinds for both the young and young at heart.   Reservations are taken one year in advance on a rolling basis.  Current campers have the first opportunity to renew their same site each weekend if done by close of business on Saturday evening.   We are currently taking reservations for the following dates and events in 2020.  Did you miss getting a sewer site last year? or your favorite tent site?  Then secure your favorite site or sites now for these fun-filled camping weekends! Groups are highly encouraged to call early to reserve sites together! Keep in mind that holidays and special event weekends like Memorial Weekend and Halloween Weekends usually sell out!  So, call soon!   Activities are held rain or shine (unless there is a safety concern) and subject to change without notice.  Thank you again for visiting our website.  We hope you find the perfect weekend for you and yours!


COVID-19 Update:  6/22/20  –  We are absolutely thrilled to welcome ALL campers back to Granite Hill and to offer you the opportunity to continue social distancing in the great outdoors in the comfort of your own camping unit!  Families are encouraged to utilize our full complement of amenities, including 2 fishing ponds, kayak boats, horseshoe pits, shuffleboard court, playgrounds, sand pit volleyball and 150 acres for walking, biking, and hiking with the family.  The adventurous are welcome to utilize a 3 mile trail made for running and mountain biking.   Our activities director will continue providing free craft kits that can be picked up in the camp store at your convenience.  The following procedures have been established to ensure the safety of our campers and our staff in accordance with the directives to mitigate the spread of the virus: Green Phase of Reopening Guidelines.

July 1, 2020 – In the state of Pennsylvania masks are required inside any building and place of business and they are required outdoors if you are unable to maintain 6 feet of distance between people not in your family or party.  Our guests are asked to follow these state guidelines while on Granite Hill property.

Enjoy crisp mornings and bluebird skies this fall at Granite Hill!  October is peak season for beautiful Adams County and Granite Hill.  While the National Apple Harvest has been cancelled this year there are many things to do and see around Gettysburg. Visit Billy Brent’s Orchard Market Stand right here at Granite Hill on Saturday between 10-3 for a variety of freshly picked Adams County apples!  For the most up to date information and schedule of local events please visit the Destination Gettysburg .  It’s a beautiful time of year to visit local wineries and breweries or take a walk downtown to visit a variety of local shops.

Gettysburg has many marks of a fangtastic Halloween vacation location—cool Autumn weather, cozy cafes in which to get your pumpkin spice lattes, and frequent ghost sightings! Consequently, Halloween is so popular at Granite Hill that we consecutively host three Halloween weekends in a row during the month of October! Spend some spooky time with the ones you love roasting s’mores, trick or treating, and decorating pumpkins! Explore our bloodcurdling Haunted Civil War Barn (if you dare), or sashay down the streets of our campground in our costume parade! Whether it’s playing horseshoe or goblin’ down some food at the Red Shed Café, we’ve got something to ensure that everyone in the family has the Hallowtime of their life! We specter see you there!  Don’t forget to make time to visit Billy Brent’s Orchard Market Stand right here at Granite Hill on Saturday between 10-3 for a variety of freshly picked Adams County apples and freshly made apple cider!

VETERANS WEEKEND

November 13-15, 2020

Experience the full serenity of a fiery fall weekend at Granite Hill. With the activities directors gone, you can choose between peaceful evenings at your campsite staying cozy by the fire, or have a high time delving into Gettysburg’s vibrant ambiance. Despite the leaves’ curling and falling, Gettysburg stays aglow all year long, buzzing with activity no matter the month you choose to visit– spend the weekend strolling through the battlefields, stepping in to the shops and cozy eateries, investigating our local artistry and craftsmanship, perusing Gettysburg’s historic breadth; and on Sunday, attend the Winter Wine Release at Adams County Winery. DEDICATION DAY AND REMEMBRANCE DAY

November 19-22, 2020

Let us be your home base for Remembrance Weekend 2020!  While some area events may be cancelled or virtual, Granite Hill Camping Resort will still be welcoming campers for the last two weekends of the month and the season!

All Remembrance Day 2020 events sponsored by the Sons of Veterans Reserves, including the Parade and Civil War Ball, have been canceled this year due to COVID-19. As of now, the Remembrance Day Illumination is still scheduled to take place on Nov. 21 from 5:30 – 9 p.m. in the Soldiers’ National Cemetery, weather permitting.

Dedication Day events on Nov. 19 are being modified to take place virtually. Full details will be announced by GNMP in the coming weeks.

THANKSGIVING WEEKEND~ CLOSING WEEKEND.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Granite Hill! We are pleased to offer limited camping to guests for the holiday on Breezy Hill, Safari Area, Tenting Grove, Stoney Point, and our USA Tent Sites. The west bathhouse will remain open weather permitting, and the main camp section will be closed at this time. While the office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, we’ll give you a reason to be thankful when it opens up on Friday—all gift items will be 30% off on Black Friday! We ask that all campers call ahead and pay their full balances in full prior to the holiday. A welcome packet will be left at the night registration box for anyone arriving to their sites after hours! Don’t turk us for Granite, call to make your reservations today!

WINTER INFORMATION

Camping Facilities are Closed December through March: However, if you are passing through Gettysburg and need a place to stay, give us a call and we will try to accommodate!

Winter Office Hours: Closed December. Open January through March: Monday through Friday 9-4, Closed on Saturdays & Sundays.  If our office is closed, please submit an online reservation request and we will call to confirm your reservation when the office reopens. Please keep in mind that if you submit a reservation request over the weekend, your reservation will be confirmed on the next business day.

Is your SCOUT TROOP interested in a WINTER CAMP out?  Then give us a call!  Winter camping is a big hit for scouts!  Set your tents up on Breezy Hill or the MG Line and use the pavilion behind the office for cooking and meals!  Bathrooms are conveniently located by the office. Reservations required.

49TH OPENING WEEKEND ~ EGGCITING EASTER WEEKEND!

APRIL 2-4, 2021

Is your busy schedule starting to make you feel like a basket case? Don’t lose a hare of sleep—retreat to Granite Hill for a weekend where the only thing you’ll be concerned with is making time to come back soon! Peter Cottontail will be hopping in and out throughout the course of the weekend, so keep your eyes peeled for him as you’re making your Easter bonnet for the parade and contest, playing Easter games, winning chocolate from candy bar bingo, going for a hayride around the campground and competing in the horseshoe tournament! Make the whole family happy with activities for all ages, and form eggstra special memories for the years to come!


HEROES BOGO

APRIL 9-11, 2021

All are welcome, but heroes are revered with our two-night camping special! This weekend of our 49th season will be dedicated to thanking the heroes with a buy-one-night-get-one-free bogo, applied only to reservations made in advance! When you come in to camp with us, make sure to show us your military, EMS, fire company, or police badge or card so the discount is applied to your reservation! Come relax by a bonfire in the cool spring weather, and watch the world bloom!


49TH ANNUAL TROUT DERBY

APRIL 16-18, 2021

Show off your sgills and flex your fishing mussels this weekend at our 48th Annual Trout Derby! Our trout pond will be fully stocked and ready for you to cast your rod! Men, women, and children are invited to compete for prizes by catching the longest fish within their categories. Whether you catch the prize trout or not, everyone wins with family fun in the great outdoors all weekend long!

MARYLAND CRAB & CORN FEAST

August 13-15, 2021

Sink your claws into a delicious feast here at the campground with our annual Maryland Crab and Adams County Corn Feast! Saturday, we will be providing just-caught Maryland Blue Crabs (1’s and 2’s) and fresh, crisp corn on the cob from Adams County! Crabs and Corn will be cooked on-site. Campers participating in the feast will scuttle back to their campsites for a private meal.  Don’t forget to pack newspaper and mallets for your feast!

Cost: $62 per dozen crabs and includes 6 ears of corn.

The deadline to reserve your feast is Saturday, August 7, 2021, so call Granite Hill to make shore you get your fill!

PICL Bike Race Weekend

September 10-12, 2021

This weekend will be the fourth annual Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League event held at Granite Hill. Reserve a spot to attend these NICA-sanctioned races which provide student athletes an environment to bring to fruition their competitive aspirations! We guarantee every participating student athlete will be given a fast and fun atmosphere with NICA-refined class-leading professional race promotion, timing, course preparation, and risk management delivered by our highly experienced event promoters.  For more information about PICL, visit http://www.pamtb.org/. WITCHES AND WIZARDS ~ FIFTH YEAR

September 17-19, 2021

In June of 1997, J.K. Rowling first released Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, the premier of the series. No one had ever before read such wonderful, outlandish words. Readers all over the world became absorbed in the pages, immersed in the wizarding world. Children began to wait outside by their mailboxes come the arrival of their 11th birthdays, hoping to find a letter admitting them to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry engraved with their name. Join us at Granite Hill for our third annual Witches and Wizards weekend, and discover as your daydreams become tangible all around you! Get sorted into your Hogwarts House, stroll down Diagon Alley, attend magical lessons, hunt for horcruxes, watch your favorite movies at the outdoor theater and much, much more, all with your favorite characters! Take your place among your Hogwarts peers of all ages and make a reservation today!

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES –  LIVE MUSIC w/ NOWHERE SLOW

Don’t miss the final concert of the Granite Hill Summer Concert Series on Sterling Pavilion, Saturday, September 26th!  Straight out of Scranton, Pennsylvania, Nowhere Slow is a favorite at House of Blues in Myrtle Beach and Sloppy Joe’s in Key West and Seacrets in Ocean City, Maryland to name a few great venues. With great musicianship, stellar vocals, and over 3900 fans online, Nowhere Slow is always booked back.  Nowhere Slow rocked Sterling Pavilion for the first time to rave reviews and we are delighted to end the summer camping season with them live on stage once again!  Call now to secure your favorite site.

Sterling Pavilion is an outdoor concert venue with plenty of space for social distancing.  Guests are asked to bring masks to the concert area and are required to wear them when unable to maintain 6 feet of distance from other guests.  Guests lucky enough to secure a campsite on Breezy Hill are asked to enjoy the concert from their perfectly positioned campsites!
