Weekend Activities

Thank you for your interest in Granite Hill!  Check out the list of themed weekends below!  There are fun activities planned for everyone.  Reservations are taken one year in advance on a rolling basis and the same or similar themed weekends are offered at the same time each year.  We are currently taking reservations for the following dates in 2019 and 2020.  Did you miss getting a sewer site last year? or your favorite tent site?  Then secure your favorite site or sites NOW for these fun-filled camping weekends! Groups who would like to camp together are highly encouraged to call during the winter months to reserve sites! Keep in mind that special events weekends like Memorial Weekend and the Halloween Weekends usually sell out!  So, call soon!   Activities are held rain or shine (unless there is a safety concern) and subject to change without notice.

Calling all anglers! Open for fishing 47 years in a row! Our trout pond will be stocked and ready for your rod and reel to do your thing. Prizes are awarded for the longest fish in 3 categories: Men, Women, and Kids. Keep your eyes out for the tagged fish swimming around – three different colors mean three different prizes! Join DJ John Saturday night for the announcement of the largest fish of the day, receiving the grand prize of a FREE WEEKEND!

Happy Easter! Peter Cottontail will be making a few appearances throughout the weekend events.  Prepare your Easter bonnet for the parade and contest during the dance on Saturday night! Easter egg decorating, Easter egg hunts, craft time, candy bar bingo, a hayride, and a horseshoe tournament are the highlights of this weekend!

Are you the Chief of Chili? Join Granite Hill Camping Resort for our 9th Annual Chili Cook-off on Saturday April 27th and put your chili to the test! Serve up your best bowl of chili to our team of judges, all local chili-enthusiasts, for a chance to win awesome prizes, get your name on our Chili Cook-off trophy, and earn major bragging rights! Enter as Pros or Joes, or just come taste for yourself and vote for a People’s Choice winner!  After a fun day of chili & beer, we will have local band, The Willys here to perform for you!

May 3-5, 2019

Watch the Kentucky Derby this year on the big screen at Granite Hill!  The race airs at noon on Saturday in the Rec Hall!  Wear your derby attire and bring your one of kind hat for the festive hat contest!  Prizes awarded! Kids can make their own special hat at craft time with our activities director in the morning.  Brush up on your derby facts for Derby Trivia and enjoy a classic Mint Julep and Caramel Popcorn at the Red Shed Café!  We’ll round out the day with kids’ horse racing and adults’ horseshoe tournament in the afternoon, capping off the night with the movie Secretariat on under the stars on the outdoor movie screen!  Call soon for reservations!

It’s Mother’s day! Thank your mother, grandmothers, aunts, or any other hardworking women in your life by spending a fun and relaxing weekend at Granite Hill! On Saturday afternoon we will host a Paint Event ($35 per person)  art supplies provided, BYOB, join us and create your own masterpiece to take home!  Advance reservation and payment required. Brush up on your short game and join us for a family friendly mini golf tournament.  Signup at check in, we will also have the golf tournament open to the public!  Age groups will be determined once the pool of golfers is in. Prizes will be awarded in several categories including special prizes for holes in one!  Free hot dogs and lemonade will be served and campers are asked to bring a treat to share for the dessert table.  All golfers are encouraged to take a free practice round on Friday evening the night before the big tournament and families can also enjoy a free complimentary paddle boat ride around Lake Lily.

It’s Father’s day at Granite Hill! Bring your dad, grandfather, or uncle to Granite Hill to thank them for everything they do! Our Bass Tournament begins 7am on Saturday and the longest fish will win a gift card! Join Granite Hill for a Hawaiian Luau weekend full of live entertainment and a catered dinner! On Saturday evening we will host a catered luau that will be accompanied by live Polynesian entertainment, featuring traditional Polynesian dancing, story telling, and fire dancing! Reservations are required to reserve a spot for the dinner and Polynesian entertainment.  Adults $18.00 (ages 12+) and Children $9.00 (ages 3-11). Don’t forget to bring a white t-shirt or buy one at our store to create your very own tie-dyed shirt with our Activities Director.

Granite Hill Camping Resort is the Official Campground of Gettysburg Bike Week! Gettysburg Bike Week events are held at the AllStar complex which is a short 4.4 mile ride from Granite Hill. Let us be your base camp. Enjoy all the biker activities at AllStar and return to Granite Hill for a refreshing dip in the pool, a round of mini golf, and other fun-filled camping activities. Campers, bikers and kids of all ages will enjoy ghost stories, hayrides, a horseshoe tournament, crafts and ceramics.  Or you may choose to take any early morning ride through the beautiful Adams County countryside. then return to Granite Hill for a refreshing dip in the pool.  Later in the evening we’ll have local Rock band, Schizophonic!  Whether you choose to do it all or just relax at your campsite there is no better base camp for Bike Week than Granite Hill!  CALL NOW!

On Saturday We’ll provide the fresh out of the water Maryland Blue Crabs (1s & 2s) $ and fresh Adams County corn on the cob for this feast! Make sure to reserve a site in advance to secure your dozen (or more!) crabs! Crabs are $42/dozen and include 6 ears of corn. (price subject to change. market price is determined in late July 2019). The deadline to reserve your crabs and corn is Thursday, August 8, 2019. Campers can choose to dine in or carry the crabs back to their campsites. Don’t forget to pack your crab pickin’ supplies! This weekend there will be a dedication to the Gettysburg Address that will be held at the Military Park.  Pay your tributes to this formally designated Dedication Day.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us at Granite Hill! We are pleased to offer limited camping to guests for the holiday! Pick up holiday gifts for your favorite camper during our Black Friday Sale in the campstore. All gift items will be 30% OFF on BLACK FRIDAY! Camping is available on Breezy Hill, Safari Area, Tenting Grove, Stoney Point, and USA Tent Sites. The west bathhouse will remain open weather permitting. The Main Camp section will be closed at this time. The office will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. We ask that all campers call ahead and pay their balance due prior to the holiday. A welcome packet will be left at the night registration box for campers with reservations arriving after hours.

Winter 2020
While our office is open for reservations, the campground is closed December-March. However, if you are passing through Gettysburg and need a place to stay give us a call and we will try to accommodate you!
Winter Office Hours: Monday through Friday 9-5, Saturdays 10-3, Closed on Sundays.  If our office is closed due to the weather, please submit an online reservation request and we will call you to confirm your reservation when the office reopens.

Is your SCOUT TROOP interested in a WINTER CAMP out?  Then give us a call!  Winter camping is a big hit for scouts!  Set your tents up on Breezy Hill and use the pavilion behind the office for cooking meal!  Bathrooms are conveniently located by the office.
